Our story

Mapleware Goods started in 2016 at a single bench in a drafty Vermont barn, with a pile of maple offcuts and a stubborn idea: that the everyday objects in a kitchen deserve as much care as the food that passes over them.
The first product was a cutting board — heavy, end-grain, oiled by hand. We sold a few at a Saturday market, then a few more, and before long we couldn't keep them on the table. We've grown since, but the idea hasn't changed. We still make things we'd want to keep, and only as many as we can make well.
We work with a small circle of woodworkers, potters and weavers across New England — most within a morning's drive of the workshop. Nothing is mass-produced. A board is turned by one person; a mug is thrown by another and glazed by hand. That's why no two pieces are exactly alike, and why we like it that way.
Hard maple and acacia for the boards. Stoneware clay fired hot enough to last a lifetime of dishwashers. European flax, stonewashed until it drapes. We choose materials that earn their keep and age gracefully — the kind that look better after ten years than they did on day one.
Plastic-free packaging, recycled and recyclable. Every order ships carbon-neutral, and shipping is on us over $75. If something arrives less than perfect — or you simply change your mind — you have 30 days to send it back.
